ABOUT The Treatment

Laser mole and lesion removal with the DEKA CO2

CO2 laser lesion removal uses a focused beam of laser energy to vaporize the mole or lesion layer by layer. Unlike surgical excision, there is no cutting and no stitching. The laser cauterizes the tissue as it works, minimizing bleeding and reducing healing time. The precision of the CO2 laser means surrounding healthy skin is left largely undisturbed.

A local anaesthetic is injected into the treatment area before we start. The procedure itself is quick, most single lesions take only a few minutes. More than one session may be needed to gradually reduce larger moles and avoid deep scarring.

Medical clearance required

All moles must be assessed and cleared by your primary care physician for signs of atypical dysplasia or malignancy before laser removal at Infinite. If a mole has changed in colour, shape, or size, or meets any ABCDE criteria (Asymmetry, Border, Colour, Diameter, Evolving), it must be biopsied first. We will not proceed without medical clearance.

Does laser mole removal hurt?

A local anaesthetic is injected to numb the area before the laser is used. You will feel the injection but not the laser itself. Most patients describe the procedure as entirely comfortable once the numbing has taken effect.

CO2 laser removal carries a lower scarring risk than surgical excision because there is no cutting. The laser cauterizes as it vaporizes, reducing bleeding and trauma to surrounding tissue. Proper aftercare is essential — picking at the treated area or failing to protect it from sun exposure are the main causes of post-procedure scarring.

Most benign lesions are fully addressed in one session. Larger or raised moles may be treated in multiple sessions to gradually reduce the lesion and prevent deep scarring. Your provider advises at consultation based on the size and type of your specific lesion.

Pricing depends on the number and size of lesions. Book a consultation for an assessment and a clear price before proceeding.
