Some skin concerns need a light pass. Others need real depth. The DEKA CO2 lets us dial the treatment to your skin and your schedule — full ablative resurfacing or a lighter CoolPeel. Same device, different intensity.

CO2 laser resurfacing uses carbon dioxide laser energy to ablate damaged skin and drive collagen production in the dermis below. It is the most established resurfacing technology in medical aesthetics, used by dermatologists and surgeons for decades, now available in a fractional format that gives us much more control over depth, intensity, and recovery.
The DEKA CO2 platform we use at Infinite allows us to choose between full ablative depth for maximum correction or a lighter, more controlled pass, what we call CoolPeel, for patients with milder concerns or less flexibility around downtime. The mechanism is the same. The intensity is not.
Results from CO2 laser skin resurfacing are not just surface-level. The collagen remodelling triggered during treatment continues for months afterward. Most patients see their skin still improving three to six months after a single session.
CO2 laser resurfacing is best suited for Fitzpatrick skin types I to III. Patients with darker skin tones carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and are assessed individually at consultation, alternative treatments may be more appropriate.
Both are ablative treatments using the DEKA CO2 laser. The difference is how deep the laser goes and the recovery that follows. Your provider will recommend the right option at your consultation based on your skin concern, your history, and how much downtime you can realistically commit to.
Full ablative depth • Maximum correction • 7 to 10 days downtime
The deeper option. Traditional ablative CO2 resurfaces the skin at full depth, removing damaged outer layers and triggering significant collagen remodelling below. For patients with deeper wrinkles, acne scarring, or advanced sun damage, where a lighter pass would not get the result. Some patients achieve their goal in one session; others with more advanced concerns may benefit from a second session several months later. Your provider will tell you at consultation which applies to you.

Lighter ablative depth • Superficial concerns • 2 to 4 days downtime
The same CO2 laser, set to a lighter, more controlled depth. CoolPeel resurfaces superficial skin concerns — fine lines, mild texture, early sun damage — without going as deep. You still get real ablative resurfacing results. The recovery is just significantly shorter. Works best as a series of three for most patients.

Who is a good candidate?
A full consultation and VISIA analysis is required before any CO2 treatment. Here is a general guide.
Both CoolPeel and traditional CO2 follow the same process. The difference is how the skin looks immediately after, and what the next few days look like.
VISIA consultation (included free)
Free for every new patient. We map your skin's texture, pigment depth, and damage pattern so we can recommend the right treatment for your actual skin. Tells us whether one session makes sense or whether a staged plan will serve you better.
Numbing and eye coverings
Topical numbing cream is applied and given 30 to 45 minutes to fully take effect. Protective eye shields go on before we start. We do not start treatment until you are comfortable.
CO2 laser treatment
The DEKA handpiece hovers across the treatment area delivering controlled pulses of laser energy into the skin. Most patients describe warmth and a light prickling sensation as the laser passes. A full face takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on the area and treatment type.
Post-treatment care applied
A soothing biocellulose mask and laser balm are applied immediately after to cool the skin and support early healing. You leave with your recovery products and a written protocol. Our number is on it.
2-week follow-up
ent. We check your skin, review the early result, and confirm next steps, whether that means a second session down the line or just maintenance guidance. The process is not done until we have seen you heal.
Recovery is the part most patients want to understand before they commit. Here is exactly what to expect for each treatment type, day by day.
Traditional CO2 Recovery — 7 to 10 days
Significant redness, swelling, and weeping as the skin begins healing. The barrier care protocol provided at your appointment is applied consistently. Rest at home during this window.
New skin emerging as old layers shed. Peeling is significant during this phase. Do not pull, rub, or pick at any flaking — let it come away on its own timeline.
Skin tone normalises. Redness is reducing. Makeup can return around day 10 for most patients, sometimes earlier. Mild pinkness may persist for several weeks — this is normal.
The collagen keeps building. Your skin will continue to look better for up to six months after a single traditional CO2 session. The final result is not at day 10 — it is at month three to six.
Light Co2 Resurfacing - 2 to 4 days
Redness and warmth similar to a moderate sunburn. Some swelling is normal. Keep skin clean and cool. No makeup, no actives, no gym. Gentle cleanser and a barrier cream only.
Light peeling and flaking as the treated surface sheds. Do not pick at it. SPF 50 every two hours if you go outdoors — this is non-negotiable during the entire recovery period.
Skin has mostly settled. Redness significantly reduced. Makeup can return. Texture and tone improvements are visible. Collagen remodelling continues under the surface for weeks.
Ongoing improvement as collagen builds. Best results develop progressively across the series. Each session addresses the next layer of concern as the skin regenerates.
