How long does Potenza RF microneedling take?
The Potenza treatment is completed within 30 to 45 minutes. This time may increase slightly if the treatment area is larger or requires greater precision around sensitive areas. We may also request you arrive early to apply numbing cream or injectable anesthetic.
How many treatments are needed?
The number of treatments required will vary from person to person. Typically, between 3 to 4 treatments are recommended for the best results spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.
Is anesthesia or numbing required?
Most patients do not report pain during or after a Potenza treatment. Sensations such as prickling or light pressure may occur during treatment. Localized numbing is optional, your provider may use a numbing cream or injectable anesthetic for additional comfort.
What is the recovery time for Potenza RF microneedling?
Healing from Potenza RF microneedling usually takes a mere 24 to 48 hours. However, it may take up to 2 to 3 days depending on the extent of the treatment. The most common side effect include: skin redness, tightness, and swelling. After one week, patients will begin to develop smoother, tighter skin and can expect results to continuing improve for up to 6 months.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
- Keep hydrated by drinking water (at least eight cups daily) or hydrating fluids to improve treatment outcomes.
- Avoid drinking alcohol for 24 hours in advance of treatment.
- For 3 to 7 days prior to treatment, avoid therapies that may cause erythema (redness) or irritation, such as retinols or products containing isotretinoin and any exfoliating acid preparations.
- Shave visible hair from the treatment area and beards should be shaved on the day of treatment.
- The same procedure should be followed prior to each visit.
- If you have an history of herpes simplex or cold sore please notify the clinic 1 week prior for possible anti-viral medicine.
What should I do after treatment?
- Do not scrub or exfoliate the skin.
- Wash the area with warm water and a mild cleanser.
- Do not apply liquid makeup for 24 hours; mineral makeup is acceptable after the erythema resolves.
- If redness after treatment persists, use an ice pack (or frozen peas) at home, but always use a protective barrier, such as a face cloth, between the skin and the ice pack.
- Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching your face. There are micro pathways opened into the dermis and hands will introduce bacteria.
- If skin feels tight or dry, apply moisturizing cream frequently.
- If you currently have skin breakouts, you may find that the condition may temporarily worsen due to inflammation or swelling.
- Do not pick at treated skin. Doing so may result in risk of pigmentation and discolouration of the skin.
- Avoid ultraviolet rays and apply sunblock daily.
- Avoid alcohol consumption if possible, for 48 hours
- For 24 hours, refrain from high intensity aerobic exercise or activities that increase the body temperature like saunas, hot tubs, steam showers or exercise.
- Call your practitioner if any problems develop regarding rash, itching, redness, etc., for more than 24 hours and/or if you develop signs of infection.
- Keep hydrated by drinking water (at least eight cups daily) or hydrating fluids to improve treatment outcomes.
Who should not have Potenza RF microneedling?
Potenza is not recommended for use in those with:
- A cardiac pacemaker
- Prior gold-thread skin-rejuvenation treatment
- A history of keloid formation
- Skin infections
- Who are pregnant and/or breastfeeding
- Metal implants
- Embedded electronical devices that cannot be turned off or removed
- Nerve insensitivity
- Severe skin laxity or sagging
- On Accutane (Isotretinoin) in the last 6 months
- Diabetes
- Taking aspirin or blood thinners
- Bleeding disorders
- Allergies to adhesives, gold, or anesthetics
- Unrealistic expectations of end results
