Common Questions

BOTOX® is injected into facial muscles afflicted with soreness and discomfort.  It works by reducing the tension and strength of the muscle responsible for causing jaw pain, lock jaw, dental grinding, headaches, and other TMJ related disorders.

We will complete a thorough review of your heath history, perform a physical examination, and discuss your treatment goals.  Using an ultra-fine needle, we will make a series of quick injections, which typically feel like a small pinch.

Results are typically evident within 1 to 2 weeks.

Results will vary from person to person, however, results typically last 6 months.

BOTOX® is not recommendedfor use in pregnant or lactating women, as well as anyone who has had an allergic reaction to the drug or any of its active ingredients.  Please inform us of any neurological or immunological diseases as this will assist us with determining if BOTOX® is right for you.

BOTOX® complications often arise from inappropriate injections and medication dosing, therefore it is paramount to have a medical practitioner that has extensive knowledge in musculoskeletal physiology and anatomy, pharmacology and hands-on experience to minimize the risk and ensure safety.

Possible adverse reactions may include, but are not limited to the following signs and symptoms:

  • Pain/bruising at the injection site
  • Skin rash/allergic reaction
  • Local muscle weakness

Each individual has different needs. BOTOX® treatment is calculated on a “per unit” bases.  This means we will determine the precise amount of medication needed to attain agreed upon results.
