What to expect during my appointment?
First, we will complete a thorough review of your health history. Next, we will perform a physical examination and discuss your treatment goals. Additionally, for select patients, a “starch test” may be completed to locate sweat glands. Then, using an ultra-fine needle, we will make a series of quick injections, which typically feel like a small pinch.
When will I see results?
Reduction in sweating are typically evident within 1 to 2 weeks.
How long do results last?
Results will vary from person to person, however, reduction in sweating typically last 6 months. Over time, the body will slowly break down the BOTOX® and you will regain the function of the sweat glands.
Who should not have Botox®?
BOTOX® is not recommended for use in pregnant or lactating women, as well as anyone who has had an allergic reaction to the drug or any of its active ingredients. Moreover, please inform us of any neurological or immunological diseases, as this will help us determine if BOTOX® is right for you.
What are the side effects of Botox®?
BOTOX® complications often arise from inappropriate injections and medication dosing, therefore it is paramount to have a medical practitioner that has extensive knowledge in musculoskeletal physiology and anatomy, pharmacology and hands-on experience to minimize the risk and ensure safety.
Possible adverse reactions may include, but are not limited to the following signs and symptoms:
- Pain/bruising at the injection site
- Skin rash/allergic reaction
- Local muscle weakness
How much does it cost?
Each individual has different needs. BOTOX® treatment is calculated on a “per unit” bases. This means we will determine the precise amount of medication needed to attain agreed upon results. Additionally, the cost of medication is often covered by private insurance plans.
